The other day I noted what appeared to be just another web robot harvesting my web page. I assumed, incorrectly, that the 'bot was for some little known search engine. However, a little bit of digging got me suspicious. A good bit of research turned up a program that can be run and which will harvest e-mail addresses from websites. Naturally, such a program would only be of use to those dirty, lousy spammers.
So, I decided to give them some addresses; as many as they want, as often as they want. However, these addresses are fake, randomly generated with the sole intent of corrupting their lists, causing excessive timeouts when sending bulk mail, and generally cause them work to sanitize the lists.
This page contains 5,000 such e-mail addresses. Each time the page is loaded, another 5,000 random addresses are created, complete with fake names, and domains. I can only hope this will help a little in the fight against Spam.
It may not accomplish much in the grand scheme of things, but every little bit helps.
